NH REAP launched in 2022 as a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship and has grown by responding to the realities of working educators, school districts, and higher education partners across New Hampshire.

Manchester School District

Janice Chase

From international teacher to New Hampshire certified educator.

Janice brought years of teaching experience from the Philippines, but becoming licensed in New Hampshire meant navigating a new certification system, additional coursework, and state-required testing. While working as an ESOL teacher under a Statement of Eligibility and Site-Based Licensing Plan, she enrolled at NHTI and continued moving forward with NH REAP support.

Today, Janice is a New Hampshire DOE-certified beginning educator serving students in Manchester. She was also recognized with NHTI’s Christa McAuliffe New Hampshire Excellence in Teaching Award.

Shereen Badawy

A global journey, a local impact.

After earning degrees abroad, Shereen immigrated to the United States and began working as a paraprofessional in Manchester. When an opportunity opened to teach French at Southside Middle School, she stepped into the role while navigating New Hampshire certification requirements.

Through NH REAP and district support, Shereen has continued teaching while progressing on a Site-Based Learning Plan. She has also been recognized nationally by the U.S. Department of Labor as a Registered Apprenticeship Trailblazer and brings fluency in English, French, and Arabic to her students.
